She joined the field of film costume design after obtaining an unpaid position to design garments for a small Merchant Ivory film, Hullabaloo Over Georgie and Bonnie's Pictures.

Previous Education training/experience:

Beavan attended the arts university of Bournemouth where she gained her skills in sewing and other arts.

Previous career

she went on to become a set designer after university.( this shows how jobs in the industry are interconnected and a person can easily progress from one into the other). This gave her enough connections in the industry to eventually switch to costume design
